Standing with Daniel

How many times have I been undaunted in the face of overwhelming adversity?   Have I given into intimidation or been discouraged by what someone said?  Have I been disappointed by an outcome I had not expected or a series of events outside of my control?

In fact this past week, I felt imprisoned by several instances that occurred in our family and to me personally.   I witnessed the events at our embassies and the rage that criticism and fear incited in the mobs.  I found myself feeling really disappointed and discouraged.

So, I was led to pray about these questions in conjunction with studying the story of Daniel found in the Christian Science Bible Lesson on Matter.  mybiblelesson.com

I discovered from studying Daniel that whomever conspires together can never intimidate, harm or influence me when I am committed to serving God, divine Love.  Aligning my consciousness with God, is the protection and sophistication that I need to defeat and defend against fear, intimidation and criticism.

The poem I found from the Christian Science Sentinel was very helpful in uplifting my thought  and inspiring me to new thinking.

Standing
From the July 18, 1931 issue of the Christian Science SentinelDaniel stood
Undaunted when,
Imprisoned in the lions' den,
He faced their wrath with vision clear,
Retreated not as they crouched near,
Nor threatened with uplifted rod—
But smiled, and humbly spoke with God.
For Daniel knew his God was good;
And Daniel stood.
Shall I not stand
Undaunted, free,
When bestial senses roar at me,
And face with love instead of wrath
The lions crouching in my path?
Shall I not stand as Daniel stood,
And silently commune with good?
Since Daniel's God is e'er at hand—
Shall I not stand?
